Default I'm in it for HoM Points, but... how?

Honestly I bought this game just for HoM points.

Before I even go on, yes its the reason I bought Guild Wars Trilogy and Guild Wars Eye of the North, and if you don't like the reason you don't have to, but I spend 50$ for certain rewards for my GW2 Characters, so I hope to get my money's worth.

Anyways, I don't like shooting for stars so I'm not going for 30 HoM points, nor 20, I'm going for 10. So I can get ALL the armor AND my goal... the Fiery Dragon Sword. Right anyways...

I don't have time. I'm not the person that can sit in front of a game and play it for 30 hours nor do it over time span, I'm busy and I would love to play a game that I actually like *cough Guild Wars 2 cough* I don't like Guild Wars 1. I've spent more then three hours on it and I don't like it.... period. (I'm sorry if that offends people just.... I think its not fit for me, everyone likes different things, and I've given it a chance... I don't like it.)

"So why don't you uninstall it and forget the rewards?" Well no, I don't like working my butt off for 50$ bucks at work, and seeing it go to waste.

So I have the game, so I thought "Lets get the rewards" with buying the Trilogy I was told I could "Cherry pick" at HoM challenges (meaning the easy ones) so that I can get the fastest way to 10 HoM points and be done.

Turns out I have the falling choices.
A.) Beat all Campaigns? deck heros out with armor? and find statues?
B.) Buy statues/stuff with money.

Yeah... I don't even know where to start with A. I don't know how to do ANY of that stuff, let alone heard it will take roughly "30+.... hours" to achieve, I don't have time, I do other things off the computer such as work. I just... cant'.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is does anyone know how to gain easy HoM points? I only want to get to 10, and if there is a way, please explain how? "Deck out characters in armor, and find statues" is what I was told, and I've researched all over on "Guides for HoM" points and what not but I have no idea what their saying, mostly talking about places and how to defeat certain things and- djksfahlfaflh I just want 10 HoM points so I can get my money's worth..

Maybe someone can trade me these items? Idk, I'm done sorta raging and apologize if I posted this in the wrong category.

Anyone willing to help?

I also saw this thread in GW2G before it was (rightfully) closed. I'm going to help as best I can, but I've got to tell you this thing reeks of whining and entitlement. If you can't spend a few hours playing a game to obtain something you want... ugh.

At any rate, the best way to get those first 10 HoM points, especially if you're starting from nothing, is to play through the game. An added bonus is that you'll get lots of history and lore if you take the time to pay attention to quest dialogue and smell the roses. That history will really add depth to your GW2 experience as well.

When you play through the game, generally you're going to have "quests" and "missions." Quests are pretty typical: talk to an NPC with a "!" over their head, take the quest, do the stuff. There's almost always going to be a mark on your mini-map (top-right by default) that will lead you where you need to go. You can look at your quests and activate new ones by opening your Quest Log (L by default). Complete quests, get rewards, level up and progress.

There's a certain type of quest called a "Primary Quest." These will advance you through the storyline, and will be located at the top of your Quest Log. If you have done your primary quest and can't find the next one, it's likely that you need to do a "Mission." A Mission is a specific instance filled with dialogue and story bits to move you through the campaigns. Depending on the campaign, you will enter a mission either by pushing "Enter Mission" in your party window while in the mission's outpost, or by talking to an NPC with a symbol over their head. Primary quests will generally lead you straight to the outpost and/or NPC needed to begin the mission.

General gameplay rules: GW1 is very party-centered. You can't solo very much of the game without a specialized build. Your team composition is extremely important. For the record, I think it's also a very fun aspect to strategize and try new team setups, but for now, know that you need at least one healer at all times. When I don't have access to heroes (AI whose skills you can modify), I usually use 1 Healer in 4 and 6 man party size areas and 2 Healers in 8 man. I wouldn't suggest playing a Healer yourself with only AI parties, because most of the time their damage is supplemental to your own. But experiment away and find what works for you. Also, there's no benefit or reason to ever quest/play without your party filled out. Get your party full.

As for making money, kill stuff, collect quest rewards, and pick up all loot and gold that drops for you. Store crafting materials to use for armor (armor in this game is really easy -- collect what you need and go to the armor guy), identify ALL items with an ID kit, and sell the stuff you don't need. It adds up fairly quickly. This game is extremely cheap and normal play will usually provide all the money you need to equip your character.

So 10 points. You get 3 just for linking the accounts. You get 1 more point for ANY statue in your HoM, which you can get by beating any campaign (done by completing the last mission in that campaign). Cantha (Factions) is the fastest. Elona (Nightfall) is longer but rewards you with heroes that can speed up and enhance your play. Tyria (Prophecies) is the longest but is filled with history and lore for the Guild Wars universe.

If you beat all 3 campaigns, you'll have 3 statues. Two more gets you 5 Statues for 3 extra HoM points (8 so far, which almost gets you to your goal). Savior of the Kurzicks/Luxons are very fast and easy titles to get you there, or you could join a group for competing Fissure of Woe, The Deep, Sorrow's Furnace, or Urgoz's Warren. Those are elite areas, but if you can complete them, you'll get a statue from each in 1-2 hours, depending on your team and the area. So you should be able to get 8 points from the Honor page very quickly and experience the game while doing so.

Once you've played through the game, you should have enough money (or be able to obtain it quickly via questing) to buy an UNDEDICATED mini. The first mini you put in your HoM will give you an extra point, and should cost 3-5k at most.

You can get 3 points on the Fellowship tab very easily. A hero armor should cost you no more than 5k or so and is worth a point. If you dedicate a pet, it's another point. If you dedicate a rare pet, it's two points. The easiest rare pets to get are the Imperial Phoenix, which you can tame after beating the final mission in Factions, and the Black Moa, which you can tame after going through a questline in the Echovald Forest region of Cantha.

If you just don't like some of the options I've given you for accumulating 10 points, save up money for hero armors. Getting to 5 or 10 hero statues should be very easy, even for someone just starting the game.

If you need basic gameplay assistance, there are tons of guides and help pages here and on the wiki.

============================

Lastly, GW1 is a very rich game in both play and lore. You don't have to keep playing after you get your points, but if you're going to play the game, dude, enjoy it. Play for fun, and you'll find yourself able to get 10 HoM points before you know it. But more importantly, stop and smell the roses. Enjoying GW1 will teach you more about GW2 and why so many people were looking forward to it for so long.

ADDITIONAL NOTES BELOW:

After checking out the great guides linked by ibiris below, I had some additional thoughts.

-The free 50k you can start with from Zaishen Keys will basically provide all the money you need for the things I listed above. Play through the campaigns, get your 50k from this method, and you've pretty much got the money you need.
-I would generally ignore the armor and weapons tabs if your ultimate end-goal is 10 points. Some of the cheapest elite armor is around 50k, so you'll have the cash for it if you want to spend it, but I think that money could be put to better use in getting to 10 than on elite armor. Note you SHOULD spend some money on MAX armor when you get the chance. Look it up on the wiki if you need help. You could get a weapon by playing through the bonus content "War in Kryta," but I'd imagine this will be too difficult for you even after you finish the campaigns. It's not easy, but it's fun if you want a challenge.
-I forgot to mention http://www.gwpvx.com/PvX_wiki, which is a great site for finding a "build" (a combination of skills and attributes for your character or heroes) for you and your hero counterparts.

Kitting out heroes with armour is likely to be more time consuming than playing through enough of the game to achieve HoM points, since you will have to gather substantial amounts of gold and/or rare materials to buy the armour.

I would suggest reading through the following two HoM point guides:

http://buildwars.forumotion.com/t300...onuments-guide
--and--
http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...amp-Discussion

The first guide is laid out in a more easy-to-follow manner.
I should point out that they do not go into a great deal of depth in explaining some of the challenges required. There are also a couple of things that are near-on impossible now, such as using Fort Aspenwood Challenge Mission to farm faction - no-one plays this anymore!

Also, use the HoM calculator to track you points and also to view what you need (http://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome). There are links for each monument that link to the official wiki, which provides a decent amount of information for each.

Hope this helps you get to the 10 points you need!

FengShuiDove, and ibiris. Thank you both very much.
Very detailed and should help me.

Although as picky as I am right now in the this game I'm going to ask a few other questions.

Where do I unlock other heros at? I only have Koss at the moment, and without him I die....constantly.

Can I buy Hero armor off of other people? Or can people trade me it?
Can people trade me these statues?

I'm honesly looking for the quickest short cuts I can find, even if I DO miss out on some of the lore, which is a tad confusing, but I still find myself being sucked into GW2 story line.
To be honest, I haven't seen Charr's or Asura's, it feels as if its not really Guild Wars... so I do find it hard having an attatchment to any storyline so far.

other nightfall heroes you will get while playing the game (the wiki is your friend here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Heroes scroll down to acquisition).
Yes people will trade with you, however, to use the hero armor you will need to get to that point in the game...click on the link in that page I mentioned titled 'hero armor'.

Charr? have you played the prophecies chapter???? They are mentioned right off the bat!
You will only see asura in the eye of the north. You can only play humans in the original guildwars.

are you making parties? If you are dying with Koss (who is a warrior and cant heal you*) you need to look at builds and partying with henchmen.

*you can put healing skills on Koss, however, with his tiny mana pool its not very effective.

edit: I would also like to point out that even to get to eye of the north you will need to be level 10 which will require some playing of the game. There is no 'get rich quick' scheme, sorry.

Glad to see some change of heart. Cosy already answered some of your questions but I'll expound.

1. Other heroes will be unlocked as you go through the game. You'll get a Monk fairly early that can be used as a healer. Like I mentioned, make sure you have a healer in your party. Usually there's a bunch of henchmen NPCs around the exit of outposts, marked by what they do, like "Domination Henchman," "Fighter Henchman," or "Healer Henchman." If they're not marked, Monks are the standard healers. Make sure you've got one.

As for dying often, armor is also very important, and getting armor early on is very cheap. You want to upgrade armor even before level 20 because the starter stuff is tissue paper.

Last thing on party composition -- don't ignore offense . You need a healer because no matter how strong or beefy you are, stuff will do damage to you. BUT, offense is key in this game. Let your healers do the healing, and you pump out damage.

2. You can buy hero armor *pieces* from other players. Then you'll take the piece to a hero armor NPC (wiki where they are) and give it to them in exchange for the upgrade.

As for statues, once you complete the objective (finishing a campaign for instance), you need to visit the Hall of Monuments on that character and put it in. For heroes, minis, and pets, you'll need to get a Monumental Tapestry before you can put them in. These come from doing the main storyline in Eye of the North or can be bought from other players. Once you've got the tapestries displayed, take the hero with upgraded armor or pet into the HoM with you and you can display them.

3. Charr and asura eh? You'll see charr very early in the game if you start a character in Prophecies... they're basically the first 1/3 of the story. You'll understand a lot of the GW2 story just from playing through pre-searing Ascalon and the early Tyria areas.

Asura were introduced in Eye of the North and are only seen there except for maybe some NPCs in towns.

Glad to see a little change of heart though, and always glad to help. If you need help, feel free to add me in game. Push "N" to open your friends list and type a character name in. That will add their account to your friends list and you can see when they're on any character on that account. For me, put in Winged Justice.

it sounds like you started a character in nightfall.....you should really start a charater in prophecies (starting in nightfall is kind of like reading the last lord of the rings book and not quite understanding whats going on).
Nightfall and Factions arent even included currently in gw2 so you might be a little more confused by playing in those areas, also starting in pre-searing prophecies will help explain a lot of things not only about the story, but about how to play.

Just a minor correction: If you're playing alone instead of with heroes or henchmen then you get more drops (which includes both gold and items). But you really won't survive alone so it's always best to have as many heroes/henchmen as you're allowed.

I slightly disagree. I think it's only profitable to identify purple, gold, and green items but not the whites or blues. Towards the end of the storyline (or in elite areas) it may sometime be profitable to identify whites and blue but, since I found it to be a gamble, I stopped doing it at all.
However, if you get a blue drop that is NOT a weapon, then you should definitely identify it and then check the Rune trader to see if it's worth it to use an Expert Salvage Kit and sell the respective rune(s).

Now, to the OP: If all you want is 10 points then you can finish the Nightfall campaign, get the Black Widow Spider (I can help you with this easily), and get 3 Stolen Sunspear Armor (from Dajkah Inlet). That's 5 + 5 = 10. And you don't even need to go to the other campaigns.
How far are you in the Nightfall campaign right now? What's your level and what is your current primary quest?

But, in my opinion, it's not that hard to get around 20 points. Are you sure there are no other HoM rewards that you want? Like the Fellblade skin for Greatswords at 23 points?

If it does interest you, then I would agree with FengShuiDove that starting in Cantha (Factions campaign) would be the fastest way to get your rewards. After you leave the starting island, go North straight to Kaineng City and then to Elona (Nightfall campaign) and get Koss, Melonni, Dunkoro and Tahlkora (all of which will already be level 15) and then continue through the Nightfall campaign in order to get more heroes.

In fact, I would recommend that you skip as much of the Prophecies campaign as possible, since it is incredibly long and the rewards are very poor. So, after you reach Lion's Arch, get a run to Droknar's Forge (I wouldn't mind doing this for free, if you want) and then complete the next 6 missions in order to finish the campaign (Prophecies has a total of 25 missions).

So you could buy 19 normal mini (maybe around 100k in total) and a unique minipet (make your own Black Moa Chick). That's 4 points.
You really could get hero statues for 18 heroes, it's not that hard. That's 7 + 4 = 11 so far.
Then you can finish all 3 campaigns and then either get Protector of Cantha and Protector of Elona or you can finish Sorrow's Furnance and Fissure of Woe (and I could help you with those last 2). That's 8 + 11 = 19 so far.
The cheapest elite armor is from the Eye of the North campaign and they would each cost around 50k. Let's say you buy just one because you like the way it looks. That's 1 + 19 = 20 so far.
And then you can get a Destroyer weapon for less than 25k and do some of the War in Kryta quest chain for an Oppressor Weapon. Which adds up to 3 + 20 = 23. And now you have the Fellblade skin.

Now heres another question, Suprise I'm back.
Would anyone be willing to help me achieve these items that can give me points, for example those statues will gain my HoM points, would anyone be willing to help me out with gaining HoM points/trading me items to gain them?

I can't put in the "24 Hour Beat all Expansions" crap, I'm having less and less time, and I'm having a kickbutt time playing GW2, then THIS one so I need a quick 7 points with... hopefully an hour? All I want is to get 10 HoM points for the Fiery Dragon Sword skin, and bail out of GW1 for a long time.

Reply if willing to help thanks (:

1. Check the Giveaways forum. There are players who give away free minis and help.

2. You can be AFK for some missions that others can run for you, so you can easily reach 10 points.

Your welcome to PM me with the time you will be logged in. I can give you some stuff.

I love this; "I want veteran status in minutes". "I hate this game, but I want the rewards that took others months and years to get, and I want them now!"

I am sorry, but come earn them like the others did.

I have to agree with Perkunas, if you have time to play GW2 and you really want that Fiery Dragon Sword skin, then you have time to play GW1. Furthermore, you can't even be bothered to play GW1 for more than 1 hour? This combined with your name (which has the adjective "rich" in it) suggests that you have massive entitlement issues. I withdraw the offer that I made you in my previous post.

Whether or not to ID whites depends on its base value since the potential price increase is proportional (max is double). This makes it worthwhile to ID whites in the endgame, which are worth ~50g (thus, risking 4g for the chance to earn another 50g, and a likely chance to at least break even). This is profitable even down to items worth 20-30g but the payout there is marginal enough that I personally don't bother with all the clicking.

In addition to the above, blues are definitely profitable to ID because some of them will have the extra gold or extra salvage property which greatly boosts the average payout.

Anyone willing to help?
After saying my piece in my other post, I will offer you my advice. Take it or leave it, it's up to you.

First off, to even unlock the HoM to add your acheivements, you must be level 10 to travel there. That in itself cannot be bought, traded or given to you. Statues are not physical items, they are acheivement rewards displayed in your HoM. Some can be "bought", but very few are cheap enough for a newbie to afford.

Quickest way there is to start a character in Factions. Do the quests and first 2 missions, then transport to the mainland. If you did enough of the quests, you should be at least level 10 when you reach the mainland. Get yourself to Kaineng City, find Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon and get the quest I Feel the Earth Move Under Cantha's Feet , load up with level 20 henchmen and go to Eye of the North. You can get 2 heros in first outpost, Boreal Station and 1 more in Eye of the North outpost. You will also receive the first of 4 needed tapestries. Be sure to display the tapestry on any one of the monuments.

Map back to Kaineng City, find Imperial Guardsman Linro and get the quest Sunspears in Cantha, again load up with henches and your heros and head to Nightfall. Upon arrival in NF, be sure to talk to Seamarshal Bendro and Field General Hayao and take their quests. These quests will get you 4 level 15 and 1 level 11 heros.

Now you have to decide where you want to continue to play. Eye of the North content was meant for level 20 characters and even though you are buffed to level 20, you will find its contents tough to speed through.

I would say, at this point, go to Nightfall and follow the stroyline which will open up Challenge Missions. Challenge Missions give you the chance to get Armor remnants to upgrade your heros armors.

One thing I almost forgot, outside the southeast exit from Kaineng City, you will find M.O.X. Talk to him as a level 10 or more and you will have your first hero and he can be dedicated straight away in your HoM. So your first tapestry should go in your Fellowship monument and with MOX in your party you can then dedicate him.

Hope this helps some. I am always willing to help those willing to help themselves. PM me here if you would like my help.

The very little spare time I have now is slim, Once again, I have life off the computer, and tend to find less then an hour to even ten minutes on my computer during weekdays, and often times weekends are being sucked up as well.

Thus I would love to play a game I actually like, GW1 is a game I hate starting up and playing, I've given the game +4 hours and don't like it. I've played at LEAST 15 other MMO's so this isn't my first, HOWEVER this is the first Instance type MMO that I have played, and this is a huge part on why I hate it, when I can't be with people in these large instances with Enemies I end up dying, and Koss doesn't know how to do crap.

So in a Nutshell.... I guess I apologize for talking trash about GW1, all I want is the very least of my 50$ Purcahse to be worth it, because otherwise my money has been wasted on.... 3 HoM Reward armor pieces, and whats the fun on that when all I want is the Fiery Dragon Sword? [/B][/B]

Thank you very much for all this and change of heart. One of my questions has been answered.
"Guys what route should I take?"
"Choose Nightfall."
"Okay...why?"
Now I know,

Although I admit I'm not pleased with how much time this will take, I'm getting to the point where I just hate starting up the game itself and it irritates me.

I've done a bit more research so I'll ask you or whoever may be able to answer it

Linking my account gave me 3 HoM points
I'm using the HoM Calculator and it says here if I gain
"Any Statue" I get a 2 points, seems legit. Can anybody trade me a statue?
"Any PvP Statue" 3 Points... O_o Can somebody trade me this?
"5 StatuesFull Display) Will bring me to my goal.
I'm guessing I can just buy these at trading posts or what not and it seems simple to do, having a new character, you can assume I have no currency or much of.

Can anyone trade me these statues? To be honest I have no idea where a trading post is...

Much appreicated if possible.

Once again, my time online is slim due to having other things going on that require me to be out of the house. So the very slim chances of maybe an hour, or less of game play on weekdays, and often weekends for me being busy as well, then the very least I can do is invest time in a game I enjoy playing. It's getting to the point where I hate even starting up GW1.

No this isn't my first MMO either, I have played at least 15 others throughout the years, one thing I know for sure this is one of the few instance MMORPG that I own, and let me tell you thats probably why I hate it, me being out in a wide area without any other players to me isn't an MMO, plus with me dying, I can't trust "NPC Koss" to rev me or what not, its terrible, I one time got stuck getting killed when I revived at a spawn point, and called it quits.

So I guess I...apologize? for talking trash on this game, and yes I know that, if you don't appreciate my opinion on the game so be it. Just keep in mind that whenever I do see Fiery Dragon Swords on somebody else's character or even NPC's (Rylock) with it, it just tells me "I wasted 50$ on that item and don't even have it" so I do want my 50$ worth of pay....fast, not a game I don't enjoy playing.

Sorry for the smack talk on GW1, I apologize.

you can not 'trade' a statue, these are gotten by doing things in the game. You can trade for parts that you can put in your HoM...like minipets, hero armor or weapons; but these require money and with a new character and account you have none to speak of therefor, you will have to either take the time to play or give up your aspirations and just play the game YOU like.
(the pvp points are not easy to get and probably would require more time than just about everything else).

You are right on that,
Upon further inspection of easy ways to get 10 HoM points, I found out if I collect 38 Regular Miniature and 1 Rare, and 1 Unique I will exactally unlock The 10 Point goal.

I have already achieved 11 Miniatures from nice people on GW1, and somebody on GW2 said he could spare me his extras that he didn't devote.

I need as of today 28 of any Miniatures
1 Rare
1 Unique

Would anybody be willing to trade me these?/Drop them in an instance? Easier to get big loads.

============================

Just to let you know, this has been helping me... ALOT, to understand, how, and where better then any of the guides.
Your time was not a waste, I'm using it and appreciate it!

I have been playing for 7 years and my miniatures monument is not complete. I have over 30 characters on 4 accounts feeding nonmatching minis to my main, and I am still 6 or 7 shy of having all. Good luck on your pursuit of miniatures.

Im sorry to say that u may have waisted 50$, no sense in forcing oneself to play a game they dont like. The HoM pts ur after are still gunna take ALOT of time, not something u can just get in mins or hours.

[Myself Ive also been playing for bout 7 years and I dont even have a complete HoM nor 50/50]
